Lauren Lehr

I graduated in 2024 from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Fine Arts specialized in Interdisciplinary Art and art history with a minor in architecture. Since graduating, I have been developing my skills in lost-wax casting while working under Lisa Geertsen and M Quarles at Pratt Fine Arts Center. I am currently creating architectural installations while working as lead assistant of Samantha Holmes.

As an artist, my architectural background influences my visual language. I create mixed media projects that allow me to synthesize hard, industrial materials with traditionally soft and feminine forms. When creating, I’m always considering the five principles of architecture: balance, unity, functionality, rhythm, and emphasis. Creating with these principles in mind pushes me to consider how my work functions, whether it be an item within a larger architectural framework or an adornment that serves as an extension of the body.
